May

15         DEADLINE – All 2017-2018 BOD members send authorized expenses, with receipts, to GCM Treasurer Godwin. The fiscal year ends May 31; past expenses cannot be paid after that.

16-21    NGC Convention, Richmond, VA (installation)

GCM SPRING DISTRICT WORKSHOPS BEGIN:

30         River Road District-Spring District Workshop – Vicksburg (Green Hills, Hester Flowers, Morning Gardeners, Openwood Plantation GCs)

31         Tombigbee Valley District-Spring District Workshop – Starkville (Starkville Town & Country GC)

  • Hills & Delta District-Spring District Workshop – Grenada (Grenada GC)

       GCM Club/Council Dues Payable, $10 per club member – $5 per Council.  Please use current Membership Form provided by GCM Treasurer Godwin.  NOTE:  Treasurers, it is suggested that dues be collected in May in order to have funds  and accurate membership information to send to GCM Treasurer Godwin by June 1.  Please verify all members’ mailing information used on the Membership Form.  USPS now  charges GCM for returned Miss Gardener issues; therefore, it is now a GCM policy that clubs be billed return postage for incorrect addresses submitted.

1        DEADLINE – Club President’s Annual Report for the recently completed 2016-2017 club year sent to their district’s outgoing director.

1        DEADLINE – Each GCM Chairman and Treasurer receiving monetary donations for Noncompetitive Awards shall send a list of all making donations to each district’s outgoing Director by this date.  This facilitates Directors judging club reports and verifying donations.                                                                          

1        DEADLINE – Information due to new Miss Gardener Editor Christye VanHorn for summer 2017 Directory issue.

         Each district’s new Director shall send Editor VanHorn ALL details for 2017 Fall District Meeting. (This Directory is received in August 2017 before the Fall District Meetings) 

6      Natchez Trace District-Spring District Workshop – Pearl  (Spring Lake GC)

7        Spanish Trail District-Spring District Workshop – Long Beach (Long Beach GC)

8        Southern Pines District-Spring District Workshop – Taylorsville  (Taylorsville GC)

4-10  Garden Week in Mississippi – National Garden Week (Always First full week in June including a Sunday).

5-7    Lanoux Youth Nature Camp, Camp Hopewell-Oxford; 2015. Cost: Camper pays $100, GCM pays $84. Send Registration to Camp Coordinator Allison Ashmore by May 19 Deadline.

11-14 Horticulture Summer Camp at MSU – Ages 15-17 – 3 nights all-inclusive $175. Send Donations to:  Chairman Elaine Thompson, 601 Ackerman St., Louisville 39339, 662-773-3538, jimlaine@bellsouth.net

1         DEADLINE – GCM DUES – Dues are considered delinquent and clubs are not considered in good standing if     dues are not paid in full for all members and postmarked by July 1. NOTE: New club members may be added throughout the club year. Send name, mailing address and dues to GCM Treasurer. Treasurer must have all new information and dues to NGC Headquarters before March 31, 2018.

1          DEADLINE – All GCM Chairmen and Treasurers receiving donations for eligible projects/programs for Noncompetitive Awards as listed in Miss Gardener Directory shall prepare the Award Certificates of Appreciation for the previous club year (2016-2017) and shall forward certificates to each district’s Director no later than September 1.  (No minimum donation required.)
